A UNIQUE EMBRACE
For of the year of Mantua Capital of Culture 2016, the city administration has implemented the largest regeneration and enhancement operation of a UNESCO historical center. ©photo Cristiano Giglioli.
The project, coordinated by the architect Federico Fedel, involved the improvement of the floors, the demolition of architectural barriers, the restoration of the Giardini Valentini and the restoration of the porticoes: cleaning of 200 columns, painting of the vaults and new lighting.
The new lighting system has been designed with the intent of enhancing all the architectural elements that make up the porch.
Through a uniform painting, it was decided to recompose a disaggregated system in a single color to wrap in an embrace the most intimate part of the city: the porticos.
